Children and Teens

Sorry, but its just not that easy to "spot" one, its not like we walk around with a flashing neon sign on our heads. But, there are ways to spot if your spouse, child, friend or boss are psychopaths. Though this task will not be as easy as it may sound, some people are unemotional, may think they're the center or the world, may seem uncaring but this DOES NOT qualify them as a psycho/socio-path.

Traits in children:

Violent behavior, causing physical harm to others or having extreme temper tantrums that result in physical contact that is intended to inflict pain on the victim.

Socially "Shy," the child can not seem to be able to connect with their peers, by means of extreme loneliness or tries to avoid people. The child may sit alone or play by themselves and tries not to interact with others.

Wants control, the child may exibit wanting to have control over everything, sometimes becoming violent if their standards are not met. For example a child playing with friends and becomes controlling because he or she feels that the other child or children are not playing the game right. Which may result in a temper tantrum or physical contact with the other child that is intended to cause bodily harm.

Behavior in school, teachers are sometimes the first ones to know that their are problems with the child. If you find yourself getting phone calls or bad reports from the teachers or school this should be taken into consideration.

Lack of emotion, the child may seem that they can not connect emotionally or understand the emotions of others, the child does not understand the pain of others or may seem distant or shallow.

Animal abuse, a major red flag if the child tries to harm or kill animals on purpose it shows a lack of remore and empathy and the lack of emotion for another life. Things such as torturing animals, for example drowning an animal on purpose, beating or any other form of prolonged physical torture that is done to the animal. If the child is or has killed multiple animals this is a warning, the child may find gratification or excitment in these killings which can escalate from animals to humans.

Pathological lying or stealing, if the child is constantly found lying or stealing (or both), and becomes a problem that seems not to change even after punishment.

Punishment has no affect on behavior, if the child seems to act as if nothing has happened after the punishment it MAY show a lack of conscious especially if the child committs the same acts again after punishment. And continues this process, it may seem that all punishment is ineffective and seems to not influence the behavior.

Rage outbursts, the child shows extreme fits of rage or is hostile actions towards other and or animals, these outbursts maybe unpredictable or frequent.

Impulsive, the child tends to show a lack of conscious when making decisions.

Lack of responsibility, the child does not own up to their actions but insteads blames others the child acts as if they're always the "victim" and as if what they did was not serious or significant.

Lack of caring, child shows a general lack in the safety or emotions of others, the child may seem self-centered and shows no empathy to others.

Absent, has a history or running away or barricades themselves in their room not wanting to be around others. Skipping school on the regular bases or staying out/not returning home when their suppose too.

Early experimenting, such as early sexual activity, drugs, drinking.

In trouble most of the time, the child gets in trouble with the law or other persons of athourity, the child does not respect athourity. Committs acts of vandilish, arson, robbery and so on...

This list is not for diagnoses of a child but more to educate on the possibilites that they child or teenager may be psychopathic or have sociopathic traits. If the child displays any on the list is does not mean they ARE psychopathic, but if they tend to match every single one or have multiple matches they should be examined by a trained professional
